Northwest Eye represents UVP’s third partnership as a portfolio company of Waud Capital

Dallas, October 26, 2018 – Unifeye Vision Partners (UVP or the Company), a leading network of comprehensive eye care providers and a portfolio company of Waud Capital Partners (Waud Capital), today announced a strategic partnership with Minneapolis-based Northwest Eye.

Northwest Eye is one of the largest specialty eye care providers in the upper Midwest, caring for patients of all ages and serving the communities in and around the northwestern Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.  The Company’s practice offers leading comprehensive ophthalmic services with 12 ophthalmologists and four optometrists operating across eight clinical locations.  In 2017, Northwest Eye celebrated 45 years of service, and while much has changed in the healthcare environment, their focus has always been dedicated to providing exceptional clinical and surgical expertise in vision and eye health.

“My partners and I are delighted to finalize our partnership with UVP,” said Timothy Ehlen, M.D., President of Northwest Eye.  “Over the last 45 years, we built Northwest Eye into a strong, integrated eye care practice, with a reputation for clinical excellence.  We love serving our patients, our referring physicians, and our community, and it was important to us to select a partner that valued our rich history and relationships.  We chose UVP because of their people-centric approach and commitment to being great stewards and trusted partners.  We’re excited about our future together and building on the Northwest Eye legacy.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Northwest Eye to UVP,” said Sami Abbasi, President and CEO of Unifeye Vision Partners.  “They are one of the largest, most reputable, and best managed eye care practices in the country.  We were particularly attracted to Northwest Eye, because they are like-minded, have strong physician and local management leadership, and are known for providing their patients with outstanding, compassionate care, and their referring physicians with excellent service.  We look forward to accelerating Northwest Eye’s growth trajectory, and to continuing to expand in the upper Midwest.”

Northwest Eye becomes UVP’s second significant partnership in the Twin Cities area.  Minneapolis-based Minnesota Eye Consultants joined UVP in January 2017.  Both practices will retain their independent brands but will share best practices to better serve local patients and the referring physician community.

Abbasi continued, “We’re building the leading, nationally-recognized integrated eye care community in the country and our goal is to become the preeminent vision care provider in each of the regions we serve over the next several years.”
