For Immediate Release John Watkins Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Regency Hospital of South Atlanta Alpharetta, Georgia, August 23, 2003Regency Hospital Company is pleased to announce the appointment of John R. Watkins as Director of Hospital Operations. Mr. Watkins will focus his efforts on the companys existing hospital operations as well on the implementation of new projects going forward. "John Watkins is an outstanding hospital CEO and has the ability to move into an unfamiliar market, quickly assess its needs, build relationships, develop a team that produces outstanding clinical quality and move the project to profitability with seeming ease," commented Rod Laughlin, President and CEO of Regency Hospital Company. "We are real happy to have him," he continued. Prior to joining Regency, Mr. Watkins was Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of a long-term acute care hospital company in the Tampa Bay Area. His responsibilities were those of Group Administrator of a market with three hospitals. Formerly Mr. Watkins was Chief Executive Officer for a Transitional Hospitals Company (THC) in New Orleans where he was able to increase admissions and census by 120% while decreasing the average length of stay by 40%. Additionally Mr. Watkins implemented several new programs to further enhances the hospitals product offering. He also has experience in successfully preparing long-term acute care hospitals for Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). His accomplishments also include a high level of focus in Customer Satisfaction with his New Orleans hospital being awarded #1 in the company for its quality customer satisfaction program. Mr. Watkins was Chief Executive Officer for Transitional Hospitals Company serving as hospital CEO, as well as start up CEO for many of the company's new hospitals. "Mr. Watkins' strong background in hospital operations, coupled with strong leadership skills, make him an integral part of the Regency team," stated Rod Laughlin. John Watkins received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University and a Master of Hospital Administration in Financial Management from Tulane University.
