Regency Hospital Company Announces Patrick Auman CEO of Regency Hospital of Odessa and Regional Administrator of Western Division

Alpharetta, Georgia, July 2003–Regency Hospital Company announced today the appointment of Patrick A. Auman, Ph.D., CEO of its Regency Hospital of Odessa project located in Odessa, Texas as well as a Regional Administrator of the company’s western division of long-term acute care (LTAC) hospitals.

Dr. Auman was recipient of the HCIA/Mercer Award for operating one of the “Top 100 Best-Run Hospitals in the United States,” and brings to Regency eighteen years of experience in the healthcare arena. Prior to joining Regency, Dr. Auman was a Senior Operations Consultant for Catholic Health Initiatives where he was a charter member of the National Performance Management Team and was involved in the overall organizational development of the PM division. Dr. Auman has a great deal of experience in hospital operations improvement and in the development of strategic plans for hospitals and new programs.

Dr. Auman also brings with him experience as a hospital operations improvement consultant in both the for-profit and not-for-profit arenas. His accomplishments have encompassed both the clinical and administrative realms of healthcare operations with a major emphasis on systems re-engineering and program analysis and development.

“Regency offers outstanding clinical outcomes to the patients and communities it serves,” commented Auman. “I am looking forward to introducing the hospital to the West Texas area and making a difference in people’s lives,” he said.

Dr. Auman is not new to LTAC hospitals. He served as Chief Executive Officer of an LTAC located in Minneapolis where he was responsible for increasing profitability, implementing new programs and services for the hospital, and developing and implementing a customer-oriented program which resulted in a significant increase in the level of satisfaction of patients and medical staff.

Dr. Auman received both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He also received a Credential of Advanced Studies in Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Additionally Dr. Auman has a Doctorate in Philosophy (Community Health) and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the AHA and the American Public Health Association.
