Wells Appointed Interim CEO for Regency Hospital of Akron

Atlanta, Georgia, March 2002–Regency Hospital Company of Atlanta, Georgia has named Brian Wells interim CEO of its newest project, Regency Hospital of Akron. Wells is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 25 years of experience in healthcare management and consulting in both the proprietary and not-for-profit environments. For the past 12 years he has worked in post acute care facilities, developing and opening acute rehab and LTAC hospitals.

Mr. Wells’ previous experience includes 13 plus years as an administrator and chief operating officer in large university and community acute medical/surgical teaching hospitals. This experience coupled with the hands-on operations management in LTAC and acute rehab hospitals provides him a unique understanding of the opportunities and challenges of a fully integrated healthcare delivery system. “There is not a more qualified member of our staff to undertake this startup project,” Rod Laughlin, CEO of Regency Hospital Company commented.

Mr. Wells is very familiar with the Akron area, having previously spent time in a consultant capacity working with two of the area’s largest acute medical surgical hospitals and many physicians on various strategic/operational projects.

Mr. Wells received a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is a life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and West Point Society of Central Georgia.
